About the design
In Himalayan art the tortoise is a symbol of longevity and stability, while the peacock is associated with beauty. Solid copper gives the burner a satisfying weight and durability, and it develops a deep, warm patina with use.
The fire-retardant cotton sits inside to help incense burn safely and evenly.
Using it
Place incense on the cotton, light it, replace the lid and let the smoke drift through the openings. Always use it on a heat-resistant surface, away from curtains, and never leave it unattended. Our Nepali decor buyer’s guide has more on caring for copper.
It also works as a decorative piece in a study, majlis or yoga room when not in use. Its compact shape suits a side table or shelf. The lid also helps keep ash contained, so the surrounding surface stays clean.
Care
Let it cool fully before cleaning. Remove ash with a soft brush, and wipe the copper with a dry cloth; polish occasionally if you prefer a brighter finish.
